Working with Kelly Howard for online sewing classes was a delight! I was a little apprehensive about taking the classes online, because I felt it would be hard to understand some of the hands-on aspects of sewing from behind a screen. However, Kelly is a great, intuitive teacher and was able to troubleshoot issues with no difficulty, probably from her years of experience! The follow-up videos were also super helpful to reference when working on specific areas of the pattern. It was also helpful to know that some parts of a pattern tend to be tricky to work with, and having an experienced teacher to walk you through it was key. There is no way I would have been able to construct a garment from a pattern without this class. I also liked the second camera on the sewing machine to get a close up of what was going on. You can tell Kelly is super experienced, and truly loves to teach as well. She is very patient and encouraging, which was really helpful when things felt frustrating in the process. I'd gladly take a class with her again! Struggles: - I think it would have been helpful for me if the lab hours (after the class) were just 'on'. meaning we would just hang out on the zoom, working individually, and checking in if we came across a problem. I learned a lot by listening to other people's issues, and how they were resolved. Esp based on the different kinds of fabrics/machines etc that we had. Otherwise, it was great! Thank you kelly!

Ms. Howard was fantastic! I love her delivery and more than anything, I appreciated how calm she was. Sewing can wrack your brain, but she made it seem easy. Between classes, the videos helped me more than anything else. They were well done and the angles were so helpful. There were a few places where I was not sure how to proceed (do I backstitch? Does this apply to both sides of the skirt?) but it is impossible to hit every point with videos AND, unbelievably, she was always available by text... even on the weekends. Stellar teacher.
